Important updates from the drone industry to promote the use of drones in agriculture

The drone industry has made many initiatives in agriculture to encourage farmers to promote the use of drones in agriculture. These initiatives help farmers decide when to water, fertilize, and harvest crops, improving yields and better-quality produce.

Important updates from the drone industry to promote the use of drones in agriculture

UP government to provide farmers with 88 drones

Agricultural committees and self-help groups in Uttar Pradesh will receive drones at a 40% subsidy to help farmers maintain their crops and fields.

To be eligible for subsidies in the first phase are:

  • Farmer’s groups
  • Cooperative societies
  • Agriculture graduates

Farmers will be able to rent drones from them, and this approach will enable faster coverage of a large area—75% of districts. In the first phase, UP will provide 88 drones to the farmers.

These drones will be capable of carrying 10 to 12 kg of liquid urea or pesticide and spraying fertilizers on crops in 10 minutes.

In contrast to nano urea, which can be easily applied to farms by drone, only 30% of dry nitrogen fertilizer gets absorbed by the crops.

Madhya Pradesh government to provide first-hand training on drones

The government of Madhya Pradesh is promoting the use of drones in agriculture as part of farm modernization and training under the “Skill Development Scheme” in agricultural mechanization.

Under the Skill Development Scheme,

  • Drone schools will be set up to increase the use of modern equipment in the next three years.
  • From farming families, 6000 youths will be trained to operate large drones in agriculture to enable them for self-employment.
  • This scheme has allotted Rs 23 crore.

The first drone school in the state has opened in Gwalior. Schools will also start in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Satna.

Garuda Aerospace avails the agri-drone subsidy

As part of the government’s initiatives to promote agricultural drones, Garuda Aerospace has become the first company in the country to receive a subsidy to make agri-drones.

The Union government has introduced a number of initiatives to help in the growth of India’s drone industry, and agri-drone subsidy is one of them.
