Updates from the drone ecosystem in India

  • In a report released by the prestigious Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), India ranks fourth in drone technology.
  • DroneAcharya Aerial Innovations has partnered with Gridbots Technologies Pvt Ltd to boost their offerings and provide customers with drones and AI based services.
  • Skye Air Mobility and AIIMS Rishikesh collaborate to provide TB medicines. Skye Air’s advanced VTOL Starliner was used to deliver TB medications to Judda Village, travelling 14 kilometres in less than 14 minutes.
  • The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is going to be among the first in the country to offer a specialised MTech program in drones through its Department of Aerospace Engineering.
  • Drones will be manufactured at Centurion University to help farmers in spreading seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides. To train about 1,000 pilots in the Vizianagaram and Parlakhemundi camps, the university partnered with General Aeronautics.
  • For geophysical survey for mineral prospecting and exploration, Squadrone Infra & Mining has adopted a drone-based Airborne Magnetometer called Magarrow. At Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (GMDC), Ambaji, Gujarat, the company has implemented the technology.
  • For the project’s demonstrations to farmers in Palampur, eight Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and thirteen research stations spread around the state, three agricultural spray drones have been procured.
  • The annual 3-day science, technology, and management festival was conducted by IIT Delhi. Tryst 2023’s primary events included the ISRO exhibition, an auto expo, a startup expo, robotic competitions, drone technologies, etc.
